The team behind Róisín Dubh, Galway Comedy Festival and Strange Brew have teamed up to bring you a stellar line up of comedy and music in a brand new purpose-built outdoor venue at Nimmo’s Pier on the banks of the River Corrib.
The Grand Auld Stretch in the evenings of Friday 13th to Sunday 22nd August features six very special Work In Progress shows from Galway’s own comedy legend Tommy Tiernan, and music from Róisín Dubh favourites Mick Flannery, Jape and Paul Noonan & Daithi’s new music project HousePlants plus the revival of John Conneely Inc’s legendary Sunday night sessions for two very special appearances. There’s also a special Dirty Circus as part of Galway’s Pride celebrations and comedian Tom O’Mahony brings us a live recording of the 200th episode of his Buckshot Podcast with a special guest Gordo Rochford (Those Conspiracy Guys) & Colin Geddis.
Since last Thursday’s announcement two great comedy shows have been added with Karl Spain hosting Kerry’s Local Gossip Bernard Casey & guests on Saturday 14th and the hardest working man in showbiz Danny O’Brien & guests on Sunday 15th. And today we are announcing the final four shows with Declan O’Rourke, Cathay Davey, Toucan & Andy Irvine completing this fine festival line up.
Some shows are already sold out, so grab your tickets quickly for the first shows in Galway this year. .
It’s so good to be back, we can’t wait to welcome you all safely to this outdoor COVID-safe space. Our riverside venue will nestle beneath stretch tents to keep you cool or dry, whatever the weather. We’ve got a click & collect bar, top quality sound & stage set up plus 40 picnic benches sold in pods of 4 and 6 to a maximum allowed of 200 people.
This series of shows are made possible with funding from the Live Performance Support Scheme from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media. It wouldn’t be feasible without the support and it’s very much appreciated, so thank you to Catherine Martin T.D. and all at the Department for their help and assistance getting everyone back to work.
