Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sinéad White shares her soothing new single ‘Common Denominator’ on Thursday, 7th December, 2023 , released via Strange Brew .
Written and produced by White, the song is underpinned by an ambient, lulling electronic beat that contrasts with the pain-filled lyrics.
“I guess naively I thought / If anyone's love could heal you mine could. I don't wanna blame myself but I'm the common denominator,” White sings wistfully over gauzy synth.
White says of ‘Common Denominator’: “This song was written and produced by me in my house as a way of coping with a difficult life experience. I found comfort in focusing on the task at hand and producing a song that captured how I was feeling at a particular time. The song is about betrayal and all the complicated feelings that come along with that.”
Hailing from Leixlip, Co. Kildare, White is a compulsive collaborator. She has written and performed with artists such as Daithí, Elaine Mai, Pa Sheehy - and is currently a member of the band Houseplants. White’s most recent EP Bye Chicken was released in 2022, with Hot Press noting that it showcases ''a remarkable voice that continues to mark Sinéad as a powerful and wholly original force.'' She is currently working on an EP and podcast about being an artist.
