Shark School - 411
We are very excited to welcome one of our favourite new bands, Shark School, to Strange Brew, celebrating with a new single and a gig at the Róisín Dubh on 29 September.
Galway-based abstract garage band Shark School air their grievances about a local bus with their new single ‘411’, out Thursday, 29th February, 2024 via Strange Brew. The band are also headed on tour across Ireland and to the UK, including two dates in Dublin and a London headliner.
The diss track, dedicated to the notorious Galway bus of the same name, fires into the eardrums with squealing feedback, thundering drums, and guitar made for mosh pits. Anyone that’s been left waiting by poor public transport will relate to the lyrics: “His bones are cracking, windows are breaking / Been here so long, her feet are aching.”
Shark School say of their new release: “This song will take you on the (bus) ride of your life, from job applications to dislocated shoulders. This old school punk tune will have all the girls singing along and could even be your baby's first words!”
Nora Staunton (guitar, vocals), Peggy Ford (bass) and Ronan O’Connor Mahony (drums) formed Shark School in June of 2023 and have quickly made a name for themselves playing with celebrated Irish acts, including NewDad, The Love Buzz, Elaine Malone and many more. The group most recently played Whelan's Ones to Watch as well as the Fall Right Into Place festival. They are known for their energetic sets, punctuated by their sarcastic wit.
